Reserva La Laguna is more than a conservation project; it’s a commitment to healing the Earth and honoring the knowledge and lifeways of the ancestors while re-weaving the sacred braid of community and well-being.
Project highlights
1. Spring Restoration
After decades of sediment buildup and neglect, this ancient spring was on the verge of disappearing. Guided by a dream, we undertook an extensive excavation project, removing over 200 tons of dirt to revive this vital water source.
2. Biodiversity Conservation
The Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere is home to endangered species of plants, birds, and mammals. Through habitat restoration and protection, we’re fostering a safe haven for biodiversity.
3. Indigenous Land Stewardship
We integrate traditional ecological knowledge to care for the land. Seasonal burns, reforestation, ceremonial gatherings, and sustainable gardening techniques are part of our stewardship practices.
4. Community Engagement
We share the lessons of the land through workshops, storytelling, and music, encouraging others to protect their local areas as well as heal.
